 Unless you can speak reasonable Turkish (and can prove it) then sooner or later you are going to need the services of a translator, whether you’re negotiating a contract, arranging to import your belongings into Turkey or even getting married.

Q: Is Turkish a difficult language to learn?
A: It’s not hard to get to grips with the rudiments of Turkish so you can communicate with neighbours and make yourself understood in shops. But it takes years of practise to speak Turkish really well. Turkish is a phonetic language - you speak it exactly as it’s written - so once you’ve learned a few new letters you can quickly make progress. There are some good books on the Turkish language and also some useful websites to get you started.
